Experience
The Cambridge English dictionary defines rote learning as “learning something in order to be able to repeat it from memory, rather than in order to understand it.” The latter part of this sentence is a damning indictment of the system of learning that is predominant in India’s educational institutions. More recently, India’s New Education Policy 2020 also emphasized the need to retire the rote learning culture and adopt the conceptual learning approach.
